Paraphrase

Benjamin Anderson

16 July –22  August 2026

Benjamin Anderson's Paraphrase consists of a series of drawings of still lifes made from studio detritus, echoing the compositions of Max Klinger's etching suite Paraphrase on the Finding of a Glove (1877–78). The idea was to test the capacity of the format and composition of the original etchings: to see if the spirit of the work could be held, or how it would be altered, once divorced from its narrative elements. If that spirit and impact could survive, the drawings ask at what point it would break, or become something else altogether.

Benjamin Anderson (b. 1996, Salt Lake City, USA) lives and works in London.
